The Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) posted steady gains during the week, which was marked by moderate volatility.
The index gained 88.79 points during the week compared to a close to 250-point gain in the previous week.
The CSE-40 index opened at 7,459.06 and till Wednesday, it was on a gaining spree and touched an intra-week high of 7,585.04. However, the index eased in the last two sessions of the week and closed at 7,547.85.
BHEL closed higher at 2,201.05. Infosys Technologies also rose to close the week at Rs 3,222. ONGC was quoted at Rs 287 and Reliance Industries closed at Rs 1,027. SBI ended up at Rs 2,780 and Tata Steel at Rs 627.
