The NSE and the BSE have started publishing on their Web sites clarifications from companies on events such as abnormal price movements, and uploading the company's response under corporate information.

This practice was observed since last week when NSE published the clarification provided by Dhanus Technologies on February 16 and, along with BSE, a clarification on Anantraj Industries was published on February 21. The exchanges had sought clarification on sudden and abnormal price movements in these scrips.

Surveillance departments of exchanges and depositories meet the SEBI surveillance officials every Monday to discuss issues and ways to tackle them. A preliminary verification report is provided to the regulator by these entities in case any abnormal behaviour in the market is observed.

The regulator might have asked exchanges and depositories to upload on their Web sites that clarification had been sought from a company, the grounds on which clarification was sought and the company's response in the corporate announcements section of their Web sites, said a source.
