NMDC gained 3 per cent in the early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange today, buoyed by the company’s robust third quarter earnings.

NMDC, the country’s largest producer of iron ore, had reported 81 per cent growth in net profit for the October-December quarter at Rs 1,518 crore.

Propelled by the strong performance, the scrip advanced by 3 per cent to an early high of Rs 273 on the BSE. In a similar fashion, the stock jumped by 2.88 per cent to an early high of Rs 273 on the National Stock Exchange.

Later in the morning session, the scrip was trading up by 1.87 per cent at Rs 269.95 on the BSE and higher by 1.67 per cent at Rs 269.70 on the NSE.
