The GST Council may look at reducing the Goods and Services Tax on cement and paints to 18 per cent from 28 per cent after July, a Cogencis report said quoting a senior government official.
Cement manufacturers have been pushing for a cut in the GST rate, arguing that it is a key raw material for the infrastructure sector.
The council may also look at cutting the tax rate on some white goods and automobile parts manufactured in the small scale sector.
