NTPC’s public issue of ₹700 crore worth of tax-free bonds has been subscribed 6.31 times, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. Of this, the retail portion worth ₹280 crore was oversubscribed 6.60 times. “This reflects the huge confidence of retail investors in the company,” NTPC said in a statement. For the issue size of ₹700 crore, there was a total demand of over ₹4,400 crore. This was the company’s first tax-free bond issuance in fiscal 2015-16.
