Power stocks maintained their firm trend on the markets near the close on Thursday. Trading during the day was volatile with the market rising nearly 500 points during the session. The market was initially lifted by the Budget proposals, but later ended down 70 points at the close.
At 3.35 pm Tata Power was the top gainer on the BSE. It was trading at ₹106 as against its previous close at ₹102.85. This represented a gain of 3.06 per cent.
Hindalco Industries gained 2.81 per cent to trade at ₹175.70. The share had closed the previous session at ₹170.90.
GAIL (India) was trading at ₹467, up 1.83 per cent on its previous close of ₹458.60.
Coal India edged lower to hold gains of 1.19 per cent at ₹370. The stock had ended the previous session at ₹365.65.
ITC was trading at ₹343.45. This represented a gain of 0.60 per cent on yesterday’s close at ₹341.40.
