It was the second consecutive trading session when the Nifty and the Sensex ended flat.
The Nifty ended nine points up at 5,288, while the Sensex was up 27 points at 17,426.
All indices on the BSE, barring consumer durables, realty and PSU, closed flat. On the NSE, the CNX PSE (1 per cent up) and the CNX Realty (2 per cent up) indices gained significantly.
Volatility was down 2.36 per cent and the India Vix closed at 18.56.
DLF, Bharti Airtel, Hindalco, PNB and HDFC were the top Nifty gainers, while BHEL, Jindal Steel, TCS, Grasim and ACC were the top losers.
