The Department of Financial Services (DFS) in the Finance Ministry has a new Secretary in Mr D.K. Mittal. Prior to this appointment, Mr Mittal was Corporate Affairs Secretary. He has come to DFS in the place of Mr Shashi Kant Sharma, who had recently become the Defence Secretary.
Mr Mittal assumed charge of his new role (Financial Services Secretary) today, official sources said. A 1977 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of UP cadre, Mr Mittal was Corporate Affairs Secretary since February this year.
Prior to becoming Corporate Affairs Secretary, Mr Mittal was Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
