Branchless banking was coming in a big way in India and this would bring phenomenal changes in the financial sector and in a nation where only less than 50 per cent of the population had bank accounts, Central Bank of India Chairman and Managing Director Mr S Sridhar said here.

Delivering the 25th Convocation address at Thiagarajar School of Management last evening, he said the bank had opened 48 lakh accounts in the last eight months with an average balance of Rs 150. “It is essential to have financial inclusion by covering the uncovered sections of the population”, he said.
