RBI Deputy Governor R Gandhi exhorted co-operative banks and regional rural banks to adopt technology, focus on corporate governance, and imbibe professionalism to face the challenges posed by the newer entrants — the small finance banks.

Though there are a large number of co-operative banks, their share in the Indian banking sector is not more than 5 per cent, he added.
