Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB), a regional rural bank sponsored by Syndicate Bank, will recruit around 1,000 people, according to Ashok Reddy, Chairman of the bank.

Reddy told Business Line that the bank has around 2,600 employees now, and the average age of the employees in the bank is around 55 years.

Stating that there was no recruitment in the bank for the past few years, he said the bank would recruit around 1,000 people during the year.

The bank has presence in districts such as Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Belgaum, Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

Reddy said the bank planned to increase the number of branches from the existing 553 to 1,000 branches by 2020. The total number of branches of the bank will reach 575 by the end of the current financial year, he said.

The bank is also planning to expand its network of ATMs from the existing eight ATMs to around 150 ATMs by the end of the current financial year.

Reddy said that the total business of the bank has crossed ₹16,000-crore mark. The bank is targeting a total business of ₹18,000 crore by the end of March. The bank wants to cross the target of ₹30,000 crore of business by 2020, he added.
