The Postal Department will next week begin the distribution of Atal Pension Yojana (APY) through its network, Anjuly Chib Duggal, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, has said.
"We should have started it last week itself. There were some issues. Now it will start next week,” Duggal told BusinessLine on the sidelines of an event on ‘Payments Banks: The Way Forward’ here.
Earlier, at the event, Duggal said the Department of Financial Services was looking at the aspect of interoperability of point of sales (POS) machines.
"The interoperability part continues to be technical problem for us," she said.
She parried questions on the reported scams in some of the banks, refusing to elaborate on the likely action from the Government.
Faced with increased non-performing assets in the banking system, the Government is now toying with the idea of setting up a committee that may be headed by the Minister of State for Finance.
