SBI Cards and Payment Services, the country’s second-largest credit card issuer, has a new Managing Director & CEO in Ashwini Kumar Tewari.

He will assume charge of his new role on August 1. State Bank of India (SBI), the controlling shareholder in SBI Card, has appointed Tewari for a period of two years.

Prior to this appointment, Tewari was Country Head of SBI’s US operations at New York.

At SBI Card, Tewari would replace Hardayal Prasad, who would demit office on July 31 owing to his voluntary retirement from SBI.

This change at the helm of SBI Card was approved by its Board at a meeting on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that Prasad had taken charge of SBI Card in February 2018.
