Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the era of expansionism is over and that India’s enemies have seen the “fire and fury” of its armed forces as he made an unannounced visit to Ladakh.

His visit to Ladakh is seen as a strong message against China’s aggressive posturing along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the region.

He visited a military hospital in Leh where he interacted with soldiers, who were injured in the Galwan Valley clashes and are undergoing treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana till November end on June 30.

The Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) announcement that a vaccine for Covid-19 by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL) will be launched on August 15 has left the vaccine company and experts equally baffled.

Later, ICMR clarified that contentious letter were sent to participating institutes in Covid-19 vaccine trials for envisaging a vaccine launch by August 15 this year, with an intention to cut ‘unnecessary red tape’.
