Defence minister A.K. Antony met the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Writers’ Building, or the State Secretariat, on Saturday.

Union Railway Minister Mukul Roy was also present at the hour-long meeting. Both Antony and Banerjee, however, refused to divulge details of the meeting.

When reporters asked whether discussions took place on the various river-bank beautification projects and the Joka-BBD Bag metro rail route — both of which have been held-up due to objections raised by the defence ministry — Antony said: “We are willing to give her all the necessary support.”

He, however, did not clarify on the nature of such support.

Later, when the same questions were put to the chief minister, she refused to comment on the matter.
