The four-day Asian machine tools expo — Amtex 2014 — was opened in New Delhi on Saturday by Kalraj Mishra, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The ninth edition of Amtex, with over 500 participants from India and across the globe, has been organised by Triune Exhibitors Pvt. Ltd.
The participating countries include Taiwan, China, Korea, Germany, Turkey, Singapore, and Japan, an MSME Ministry release said.
“Our Government is committed to overcome all types of challenges by promoting industrial technologies and improving productivity, both qualitatively and quantitatively,” Mishra said while inaugurating the expo.
India stands 13th in production and sixth in the consumption of machine tools in the world. With the NDA Government focus on boosting manufacturing, the machine tools sector sees great potential for growth.
Cyril Pereira, Managing Director, Triune Exhibitors, said: “The exhibition will provide a stage for lively interaction between manufacturers, suppliers and users of the growing Indian market,” especially in aerospace, automobiles, defence, electrical and electronics instruments.
