A group of people tonsured the head of two suspected mobile phone thieves before handing them to the police here.
The duo made an unsuccessful attempt to steal the mobile phone of a villager, who had come to weekly market at Waghbil area near here yesterday, police said.
The villager raised an alarm following which some of those present in the market chased and caught hold of the duo.
They punished the two by tonsuring their head and handed them over to the Kasarwadavli police, they said.
Assisant Sub-Inspector Aayas Abbas Shaikh, of the Kasarwadavli police station, said an offence has been registerd against the duo, Nissar Ahmad Ansari (23) and Bashir Ahmad Shaikh (25), residents of powerloom town of Bhiwandi.
