Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, today.
A senior official in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) said Modi is expected to meet top scientist and secretaries at the nuclear establishment. A series of presentations the delineating the current status of projects such as the Advanced Heavy Water Reactor, the nuclear recycle plants and the Jaitapur nuclear project would be made to him.
The Prime Minister will also be visiting the Dhruva reactor complex, which is used for strategic purposes, the official said.
In line with the policy of the Prime Minister’s Office of keeping the media at arm’s length, BARC has not invited any media organisations for the event.
After his visit to BARC, Modi will return to New Delhi.
