The Ministry of Finance has called for a meeting of banks on Friday to discuss issues in the power sector. Representatives of IDBI, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, IIFCL, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank are expected to attend the meeting. The Association of Power Producers has also been invited to make a presentation at the meeting. According to industry sources, 1,00,000 MW of private sector capacity is under stress where ₹5 lakh crore of bank loans have been provided. “The meeting will discuss issues affecting the power sector and their implications on the banking sector,” said a person in the know of the development.
