US Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens, in co-ordination with Central and State authorities, has announced that the United States will provide $100,000 to Plan India through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist people affected by Cyclone Hudhud in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
“The United States is committed to working with our partners to help those affected by the cyclone,” Stephens added.
Stephens extending her deepest sympathies on behalf of the American people to the people, especially the dozens of families who have lost their loved ones.
Plan India is expected to use these funds to provide emergency relief, including temporary shelter and non-food relief supplies, to thousands of families in remote villages severely affected by the cyclone.
USAID, which works in both disaster preparedness and response, is working in partnership with Government of India, the private sector, and international organisations to promote disaster resilience through increased investment in disaster risk reduction activities.
