The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has stood first among the State public utilities in online booking volumes in the Unlock 1.0 announced by the Union Government.
During Unlock 1.0 phase, APSRTC has been operating about 6,000 bus services a day and connected 137 cities and towns. Private operators in the State run about 1,445 services.
The Uttar Pradesh bus utility, UPSRTC, comes second with about 1,200 bus services, carrying about 10,000 passengers every day and connecting 45 cities, Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of Abhibus, an online ticketing platform, has said.
Abhibus compiled data from utilities of 25 States.
According to Abhibus, the APSRTC has achieved a booking volume of 70 per cent (of the pre-COVID numbers).
Andhra Pradesh is one of the first States to allow intra-State bus operations soon after the lifting of lockdown restrictions.
Vijayawada has the highest number of bus services at about 600, followed by Visakhapatnam with 380 services and Nellore with 226 bus services run by the APSRTC.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is operating 1,110 services a day, connecting 52 cities and towns within the State.
In Karnataka, about 70 private bus operators are running 258 buses a day.
