Online matchmaking platform Matrimony.com has launched MatrimonyMandaps, which helps its customers find wedding and banquet halls in Tamil Nadu. The service is available in Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy. The company has tied up with 900 wedding and banquet halls and around 550 of them are listed in Chennai alone, according to a press release.
Murugavel Janakiraman, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Matrimony.com, said in the press release, “MatrimonyMandaps is our latest addition to the marriage service market. We have constantly pioneered new marriage related services, including MatrimonyPhotography, MatrimonyBazaar and MatrimonyDirectory. Once a match is fixed, there are several services that people need.”
Janakiraman further said in the press release that an average Indian family spends about ₹8 lakh on a marriage and only about 1 per cent of that is spent on matchmaking. “We see a huge opportunity in the marriage-related services as it’s highly unorganised. Soon we’ll be expanding to other cities and states,” he added.
