Bureaucracy should have no fear from audits if decisions are transparent, correct and judicious, Shashi Kant Sharma, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, said on Friday.
Sharma was addressing the Indian Information Service Probationers and said that public services have become more citizen-centric and people expect better quality, timely delivery and efficient management in delivery of these services.
“The instrumentalities of governance have changed as a large amount of money is now being spent through local bodies and public private partnership mode. Expenditure in social sector can make a good impact on the socio-economic life of people. We are, accordingly, emphasising on social audit as it involves the beneficiaries of public services at the grass root level,” the statement added.
