A high-powered Central team headed by a team of Jyothi Arora from the Union Power Ministry today interacted with the officials of Andhra Pradesh electricity utilities and State officials and announced that a detailed report will be submitted to the Centre on the power sector within 15 days.
The Central Government official was deployed to the State to facilitate the implementation of a pilot project being taken up to provide 24x7 hours of power supply in the new State.
Pilot project
Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan have been chosen to implement a pilot project in both the States to offer 24x7 hours of supply to households and industries.
During the interaction with the State Energy Secretary, Ajay Jain and other senior officials of AP Genco and AP Transco, the Central Government official was told about the shortage currently looming large in the State. The State also sought the Central Government support for bridging the current demand-supply situation by allocating power from the Central Generation Stations.
