The Government resisted pressure from the BJP to raise the issue of alleged land deals by Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, in Parliament.
The BJP, however, countered the Congress’s stand that the issue was a State subject and could not be discussed in Parliament, and raised the matter in both the Houses.
In Lok Sabha, senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha’s reference to “a highly connected person”, who without going to any B-School had presented a model where no investment was made but there were windfall gains, saw Congress leaders up on their feet, raising an uproar.
Later, Sinha demanded a Special Investigation Team probe into alleged land deals in Haryana, Punjab and Delhi involving Vadra.
In Rajya Sabha, too, a notice on the matter was not admitted by the chair.
