The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is to offer 120 scholarships for its Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA) programme to be conducted for the first time in India. The scholarship will be open to chartered accountants.
The programme will be conducted between July 14 and October 24 in Delhi, Pune and Mumbai with 40 seats available in each centre. The same course, if taken abroad, would cost £2,635 (about Rs 2 lakh). With the scholarship, it would cost £500 (about Rs 40,000).
The eligible candidates have to take two exams between July and October, with the final to be held in July next year. The scholarship holders have to undergo part-time training, to be conducted by expert trainers and the members of Institute of Chartered Accounts in India.
On passing the exams, candidates will become members of ICAEW, a world leader in the accountancy and finance profession.
Mr Mark Spofforth, President, ICAEW, said about 55 per cent of the current CEOs and CFOs of the FTSE-100 companies in London are ICAEW Chartered Accounts.
The scholarship scheme is supported by Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, Deloitte, Genpact, Grant Thornton, KPMG and PwC.
