Use of technology among children is important as it is a means to innovate but they should also participate in outdoor games, advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi when a parent complained that his child spent too much time playing online games.

During the second edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha here on Tuesday, the PM said, “I will not say exposure to technology is a bad thing for students. It is good that students are getting acquainted with new technology. Play station is good but children should never forget playing on the field”. The first edition took place last year.

Around 2000 students, parents and teachers participated in the interaction on Tuesday. Participants from countries like Iran, Nepal and Kuwait also asked questions through videos.

Speaking on the relevance of exams, PM Modi said that it (exams) should be treated as an opportunity as it helps students in evaluating their strengths.

Students asked questions ranging from the importance of constant encouragement from teachers, need to improve the education system further and how to cope with depression.

“We must always express ourselves and not suppress. Our culture has mechanisms to cope with this. The more we talk openly about aspects relating to depression and mental health, it is better,” said PM. Counselling is not a bad thing. Talking about ones problems is very good, he said.

PM also asked parents to not put excessive pressure on their children so that they can boast about their children’s achievements in their social gathering. “Don’t make your child’s report card, your visiting (card),” said the PM
