The number of women students has touched an all time high this year in the Indian School of Business (ISB) here. Out of 831 students in the postgraduate programme in its campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali, 236 were women.

"The PGP Class of 2016 accounts for the highest number of women in absolute terms in any class so far. This is a result of the concerted efforts by the School to bring more and more women students on board,’’ ISB said in a release issued here on Wednesday.

For the first time, women students enrolled from Sri Lanka and Russia. ISB has also seen the more recruiters hiring women candidates for leadership positions over the past few years.

The number of professionals from non-government organizations and not for profit bodies has gone also up this year. "The students have worked in NGOs from sectors including education and healthcare," the release said.

The average age of the students is 27 years while the work experience is 4.7 years. Eighteen students had either filed for or received a patent/s and the class also includes several doctorates in biochemistry, biotechnology and bio medical science.
