The undue delay in processing of GST claims of exporters by the Tamil Nadu government and the resultant delay in getting the refunds are said to be impacting the trade adversely.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has appealed to the State government to settle the refunds promptly, besides suggesting appointment of a nodal officer to address the issues of the exporting community.
A nodal officer — district wise may be appointed by VAT authorities to flag issues of exporters, Sakthivel, Chairman, FIEO (Southern Region), said in a communication to Hasmukh Adhia, Union Finance Secretary, highlighting the plight of FIEO members.
He said that exporters were harrassed and their manual applications were either not processed/ accepted without seeking additional details. Even after furnishing the details sought, no acknowledgement is received.
There is, therefore, a need to impart training to such officers to ensure hassle-free submission of documents, Sakthivel said
