On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to announce the launch of the Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Scheme on a pilot basis. Full-scale roll-out is expected only by September end. The Mission, touted as the world's largest healthcare programme, aims to provide a coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually and will target poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational category of urban workers’ families.

The Environment Ministry may come out with its National Clean Air Programme. The Ministry has been working on a comprehensive plan to prevent and control air pollution. The NCAP also includes an action plan to increase monitoring stations, data dissemination, public participation and implementation.

Varanasi will get its first luxury cruise service. The service operated by Kolkata-based Nordic Cruiseline, will offer ghat tour cruises onboard its flagship Alakanda.

The Indian Railways will launch digital museums at 22 big stations. The railways will showcase its heritage through movie clips of one to two minutes on digital LED screens at the station entrance and comfort zones. The move comes in the backdrop of the PMO's objection to setting up new rail museums.

Reliance Jio will launch its new model JioPhone 2 today. The 4G enabled phone will support YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp apps. The company will also open registrations for its Optical fibre-based fixed-line broadband service, JioGigafiber.
