India and US will hold its first 2+2 dialogue today in New Delhi. Iran’s oil import, trade gap and defence collaboration will feature during the talks. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also take up the immigration-related issues and cooperation counter-terrorism operation with their respective counterparts from the US.

Farmers and workers from across the country, supported by the leaders of CPI(M) front organisations will take on a rally today in Delhi against the Narendra Modi government. The organisations demand a minimum monthly wage of Rs 18,000 for the workers and debt waiver for farmers and agricultural labourers.

Expelled DMK leader M K Alagiri to take on a mega rally to pay homage to his late father and DMK chief M Karunanidhi today. Alagiri, who was away from politics since his expulsion from the party in 2014, will march from Anna Salai to Anna Memorial where Karunanidhi was laid to rest. He is likely to announce about his political plans during the rally.

India’s first Rail University is all set to begin classes from today. Situated in Gujarat, the varsity offers two undergraduate courses – BSc in Transportation technology and BBA in Transport Management - in the maiden year. Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani will be the Chancellor of the university.
