Our Bureau The General Management stream hogged the attention during the final job placements of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) class of 2018 at the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad.

Consulting firms, offering management consulting roles across geographies, continue to hire in large numbers.

Accenture Strategy made the highest number of offers (including pre-placement offers) at 17, closely followed by the Boston Consulting Group with 15 offers, in Cluster 1, held at the IIM-A campus on Saturday.

IIM-A has always had an extremely rich mix of firms from diverse sectors. This reinforces the strength of the general management programme at IIM-A, the institute said in a statement.

The firms that participated in Cluster 1 comprised three cohorts — investment banking and markets, management consulting and private equity, and venture capital and hedge funds.

The list of Cluster 1 recruiters also included regulars such as AT Kearney, Bain & Co., Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, McKinsey & Company, Monitor Deloitte and Oliver Wyman.

Finance firms offered roles in investment banking, private equity, venture capital and capital markets across functions and geographies.

The final placement process for the PGP class of 2018 began on Saturday, under a cluster cohort placement process wherein companies offering similar profiles are grouped into cohorts, and several cohorts are invited to the campus in a particular cluster.

Three-cluster schedule

The three-cluster placements schedule has next cluster taking place on Tuesday, followed by the last scheduled for Friday. The institute will follow a rolling process post Cluster 3, if necessary.
