The second unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant will start generating 1,000 MW power in six months, a senior official said today.

Inaugurating the “Techno Fair” here today, Additional Chief Engineer of the Plant, Kaliraj said the first unit was generating 1,000 MW of power and the second unit “will come into operation in another six months and generate 1,000 MW power”.

He said the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) was generating “clean power without pollution.”

He said advancement in technology led to building up of plants like KNPP and it was generating safe and clean power.

On June 6 last year KNPP, set up with technical cooperation with Russia, attained its full generation capacity and became the first nuclear plant in the country to generate 1,000 MW of power.
