Hyderabad-based gene-based diagnostic services provider, Mapmygenome, has launched a new genetic test 'SlimGene'.
Announcing the launch of the service here on Friday, its CEO Anu Acharya said the test will allow people suffering from obesity to understand the role of their genes in obesity and thus help controlling other factors responsible for it.
With this non-invasive genetic test-based DNA extracted from buccal swab or blood, weight-watchers can get insights into their genetic predisposition to appetite, fat storage and absorption and body mass index. The test is priced at Rs 2,000, which will go up to Rs 4,500 if counselling and other options are also included.
Mapmygenome has also launched a genetic test for detecting mycobacterium tuberculosis in the form of a diagnostic kit.
