AMRI Hospital, Dhakuria, which was shut down following a fire in December 2011 and subsequent death of 90-odd patients, resumed its indoor services from Saturday.

The out-patient department had become operational from December 30, last year.

Currently, the Main Building and Annexe II have become fully operational with both the out-patient and indoor services resuming.

Diagnostic facilities The two buildings will have 202 beds between them.

Annexe I, the building that had actually caught fire, is not yet ready.

The renovated AMRI Hospitals Dhakuria would admit patients to the cardiology, orthopaedic, urology, nephrology, neurology, gastroenterology, nuclear medicine and few other departments.

Some of the high-end diagnostic services to be offered will include MRI, CT scan, ultrasonography, endoscopy, among others.

Emergency section The hospital will have a 10-bedded 24X7 Emergency section offering services even on Sundays.

“We are happy to inform that AMRI Dhakuria will resume admitting patients at the two renovated indoor units. The hospital has attained all statutory clearances,” Rupak Barua, CEO, AMRI Hospitals Ltd said.

The new and renovated hospital is equipped with the latest fire safety measures and meets the standard norms of the National Building Code, AMRI said in a release issued.
