The Government of Bahrain has honoured NRI businessman M.A. Yusuffali with its top civilian award.
The `Wessam al Bharain’ award was conferred on Yusuffali, head of the retail chain Lulu Hypermarket and managing director of EMKE Group, at a state function in the capital Manama held as part of the 43{+r}{+d} Bahrain national day by Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of Bahrain.
This is the first time that a foreign national has won the top civilian award. Yusuffali, rated as the most influential Indian in the Gulf consecutively for the fifth year by the Arab Business magazine, is one of the top billionaires in Asia. His Lulu Hypermarket chain is among the ten top retailers in the world.
