Domain name industry is taking off in the country but low level of awareness on the opportunities available is hampering the pace of growth.
About 500 delegates, who are owners of domain names, investors, legal experts and other stakeholders, had gathered here to discuss challenges that have dogged the domain industry.
The DomainX conference was organised by the Domain Name Owners’ Association of India (DNOAi).
“The country is witnessing emergence of local TLDs (top-level domains). This will open up immense opportunities. DomainX will provide a common platform to various stakeholders,” Anshul Goyal of DNOAi said. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said the rise of Indian specific TLDs could throw up several challenges, including disputes over domain names. “But there is a mechanism to address grievances. It would look into the veracity of claims and settle the disputes,” he said.
