The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has made a plea for regulation and supply of paraffin wax to save the match industry.
In a letter addressed to Union Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy, Chamber Secretary, P.T.K.A. Balasubramanian, said that entrepreneurs depended mainly on the supply of paraffin wax type II and type III as an essential requisite for the manufacture of safety matches.
With the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd who were supplying the material, having stopped the supply from August 1, entrepreneurs were being put to great difficulty. He urged the Minister to arrange for regular supplies from CPCL.
