The South Central Railway’s freight earnings registered a 6.6 per cent growth during the first quarter of the current fiscal as compared to the corresponding quarter of last fiscal. During this period, it loaded 27.59 million tonnes of originating freight. The earnings from originating freight loading during the three months were ₹1964.76 crore, as against ₹1843.57 crore in the year-ago period. The gross originating earnings of this zone (including passenger traffic) registered 11.6 per cent increase at ₹2893 crore, as compared to ₹2593 crore during the corresponding period of last fiscal.
