The second day of TieCon Delhi 2014 was packed and bustling with the energy of budding entrepreneurs. The event saw interesting discussions on a host of issues impacting entrepreneurs with nuggets of wisdom by those who have succeeded in the arena.
This time, the event had the theme ‘Abki Baar Disruption’.
At ‘Scaling innovations in healthcare’, the panel touched upon issues such as the fragmentation of the industry, affordability, lack of data in rural areas, using IT in healthcare sector, gap in services for the rural and urban population and how to work towards bridging the gap.
Vikas Kuthiala, Founder and MD, Falck India, and Member, Indian Angel Network, said that use of IT may have actually driven up the cost of healthcare and the sector should work towards using it efficiently. Another panellist, Om Manchanda, CEO, Dr Lal Path Labs, gave the example of China, where there are no private labs and everything is at the hospital.
Another session on social media ‘Get SMAC or Get Smacked’ threw light on how companies have to use the medium for not just survival, but also for sustainability and scalability of the enterprise.
IT knowledgeSMAC stands for Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud Computing. Ashish Gupta, COO and Country Head, Evalueserve, said that it is a strategic challenge and the company has to work on how to cannibalise itself so that it can emerge stronger.
In other words, how do you creatively disrupt yourself, said Gupta.
Sanjay Kapoor, Chairman, Micromax, in the keynote session, talked about the need for digital committees on company boards and how entrepreneurs need to shift from a local mindset to a global mindset.
Other sessions on ‘Building your personal brand’ and the social investor connect also drew huge crowds.
To provide a platform for budding entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate with thought leaders and industry captains, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) held its flagship event TiECon in Delhi on October 17 and 18. BusinessLine was a print media partner for the event.
The conference touched upon various technological aspects such as design thinking, e-commerce, among other disruptive themes expected to take the start-up ecosystem by storm.
The event witnessed participation from a host of industry experts who don roles of angel investor, mentor, influencer in the start-up ecosystem, along with the start-up representatives.
