Asean Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (AIIRM) on Sunday organised the fifth Insurer's conclave on “Affordable Health Insurance” in collaboration with Jamia Hamdard.

Jamia Hamdard, the deemed university from the academic session 2017–18 has come up with an MBA Insurance course, a first of its kind in the country, in collaboration with AIIRM.

Eminent insurers from private and public sector life, general insurance companies, academicians, students, health providers and people availing insurance attended the conclave. G Srinivasan, CMD, New India Assurance Co. Ltd, who was also the Chief Guestat the event said, “There is a need to make health insurance affordable so that a larger population of India could be benefitted.” He also suggested various steps to bring down the cost of insurance, including the urgent need to effectively regulate the health providers to help contain the spiralling cost of health treatment.

NN Joshi, former Executive Director of LIC and H Ansari former member, IRDAI and General Manager, Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd, the two eminent insurers were also felicitated at the event. Both were presented with the “AIIRM Eminence Award for their outstanding contribution in the growth of the insurance industry in India”.

Meanwhile, the panel discussion on the theme of the conclave was held in three sessions, in which speakers from India and abroad took part.
