Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has clarified that February 15 will not be the deadline for Aadhar-linked gas subsidy scheme.
At an emergency high-level meeting held at Secretariat today, the Chief Minister clarified that the February deadline will not be implemented and appealed to the public not to panic.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to open 300 new centres in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of chaos at Aadhar enrolment centres where the officials were unable to handle the rush. People are worried that they may not get subsidised LPG cylinders if they do not enrol on time.
In spite of assurances, there is considerable confusion among general public on the implementation of the scheme. He said in cases where they have already enrolled, they need not go to the Aadhaar enrolment centres again.
He also wanted the facility to enrol in 60 ‘Mee Seva’ centres in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district to be extended within a week for issuing duplicate cards and in other cases where ‘Aadhaar’ cards have been either lost or have not been received by the beneficiaries.
