The Andhra Pradesh government is to introduce a state greening and beautification policy soon. The policy would aim at developing greenery in the state. The policy has been developed by the AP Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation and the Centre for Innovations in Public Systems. The corporation was formed in February 2015. It has so far provided 741 concept designs and estimates for different landscape works estimated at Rs 641.02 crore.
The AP Greenery Corporation took up tree transplantation and transplanted 272 trees affected in the Benz circle flyover works in Vijayawada.
Drone survey : The greening corporation has prepared an action plan to develop parks in 110 municipalities at a cost of Rs 715 crore. As part of the project, the corporation will conduct a drone survey to identify places to develop greenery. The drone survey will be taken up in Tirupati, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.
Under the Centre’s Amrut scheme, the corporation would develop 123 parks in the state. Experts from the Singapore national parks board are expected to train officials here. The corporation Managing Director, N. Chandramohan Reddy, said the corporation had developed a mobile app, Green AP, to provide expert advice to the people. He said the AP green awards would be presented in eight categories to a hundred persons who excel in developing greenery. The awards will be announced next week.
