On a day when Rahul Gandhi visited West Bengal to rejuvenate the Congress, the Bengal unit of the party received a jolt with its senior leader and MLA Abu Naser Khan Chowdhury switched over to the ruling Trinamool Congress.
He is the second leader to switch sides. A few days ago, veteran MLA, Rabindranath Chatterjee too had joined the Trinamool.
Khan Chowdhury is the brother of late ABA Ghani Khan Chowdhury, once a Congress strongman from the Malda region of West Bengal and former Railway Minister.
“I am absolutely certain that without Mamata Banerjee development is not possible,” Abu Naser told media persons.
