To address the acute parking problem in the city, Coimbatore-based Sieger has partnered with Hercules Parking, Australia, and evolved a technology-driven parking solution.

Sieger Parking, which is part of Sieger Spintech Equipments Pvt Ltd has implemented the solution in a prominent textile retail business store in Coimbatore.

Puzzle parking system G Radhakrishnan, Managing Director, Sieger Parking, told Business Line that the footfall in this multi-storeyed retail showroom exceeded a few thousand during peak season.

“The store found the basement parking space insufficient and it became imperative that they provide car commuters the space to park their vehicles lest they move on to places with better parking facilities. We built an integrated ‘puzzle parking system’ that eased the pressure on parking by growing a street-level parking space meant for 12 to 15 cars to a 60-unit car park that slots cars on stacks that move horizontally and vertically across organised parking bays,” Radhakrishnan said.

“It is designed to go vertically up to five levels and horizontally up to 8 columns per module. All systems are PLC controlled. One vacant slot must be allowed at every level from ground (except at the top level) to facilitate horizontal and vertical movement. Imagine playing a cubix. Cars can be parked and retrieved by entering the slot number or the last four digits (number plate) on the user panel. It will start action automatically with the best logic to park or bring the car to the ground level and have it ready for exit. This system can independently remove any desired car without disturbing the other cars in the system. We implemented the solution in six weeks,” he added.

Another project Sieger Parking is now gearing to roll out the Dependent Stack Parking System in a multi-speciality hospital in the city. The solution is expected to expand the current parking space for 70 cars to 370 cars.

The Stack Parking system is aimed for optimal use of height available. “This, with the comfort of not having to remember where one parked the vehicle, as a radio frequency (RF) tag takes over.

Highlighting the advantages of such parking solutions, he said, “There is lesser queuing time at entry, cars can be easily retrieved, safety ensured, it is software enabled, tediousness of remembering parking levels, bays and location is absolved, huge expansion in parking space etc.”

Sieger Parking is now looking to take this ‘Made in India’ vehicle parking solution to Australia. Balaji Venkataswamy, Director (Business Development), said the company has initiated discussions with an Australian company.
