Even as the Congress and the BJP exchanged blame for the attacks on migrant workers in Gujarat, the Cyber Cell of Ahmedabad Crime Branch reportedly arrested Rahul Thakur, the social media convener of Congress MLA, Alpesh Thakur.

The cyber cell of Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested 10 people, including Rahul Thakur, for allegedly leading the ‘Thakur Sena’ and spreading anti-migrant sentiments in the State.

Addressing media on Tuesday, Pradipsinh Jadeja, Minister of State Home, Government of Gujarat, stated that a cyber crime is investigating the matter.

“Prima facie, about 20 people linked to Congress party were involved in spreading fear through social media. It appears that it was a ploy to create disturbance in the State and derail the process of development by creating social crisis. We will not spare those responsible,” said Jadeja.

He added that 533 were arrestedand 20 booked under the IT Act. The Minister also confirmed that no ‘serious’ incident was reported during the past 72 hours.
