The BJP has described the ongoing tension between Janata Parivar factions as fledgling efforts of “defeated” leaders to stop the Narendra Modi juggernaut in poll-bound Bihar.
Union Telecom Minister and prominent Bihar leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a press conference here on Tuesday that the “desperate challenge” by the Janata Parivar factions makes the BJP’s prospects extremely bright in the upcoming Assembly elections.
“They had tried to stop the Modi juggernaut in Bihar even during the Lok Sabha elections. One of them (Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal-United) ended up with just two seats while the other secured four seats.
“Now these same defeated and desperate leaders are trying to cobble together an alliance in Bihar.
“But the contradictions remain. But whether their alliance is weak or strong, we are confident that the people of Bihar will vote for the BJP and make it victorious,” Prasad said.
On the possibility of Nitish returning to the BJP’s fold, he said: “As far as opening the door for Nitish Kumar is concerned, it is shut with a capital lock. There is no question of any truck with Nitish Kumar.”
