The DMK today said that irrespective of the party that was in power at the Centre, the prices of petroleum products were “uncontrollably” going up and sought measures to keep them under check.

“Though governments have changed, the scenes have not changed. Petroleum products’ prices are uncontrollably going up. Those in the government claim they are not responsible for the hike,” party President M Karunanidhi said.

Answering a set of questions in party mouthpiece ’Murasoli’, he said the Centre, “which comes up with alternatives” for so many other issues, should also work out some solutions to keep oil prices under check and within some stipulated price—band.

Price of petrol and diesel were increased last week, drawing all—round criticism.
