The work on the exit road to the city from Mangaluru International Airport will be completed by December 31.
This was revealed at the district monitoring committee meeting conducted by the Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada, Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Expressing displeasure over the delay in the completion of the exit road from the airport to the city, he wanted to know the likely date of the completion of the work.
The official from Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd (KRDCL), which is implementing the project, said the work on the construction of the exit road is in progress, and it will be ready for use by January.
The new road has been built by digging up a hillock to the extent of around 15 metres. The technical committee of KRDCL, which visited the spot recently, has suggested some measures to prevent any landslides near the 10-metre-wide concrete road.
The official informed the meeting that all these works will be completed by December 31, and will be ready for use by January 1.
It may be mentioned here that the work on the construction of the 1.2-km-long exit road from the integrated terminal of Mangaluru International Airport to the city began in March 2013. Following this, the access to the existing exit road was cut off.
