The Haryana government on Tuesday decided to provide accident insurance cover to all residents of the state in the age group of 18 to 70 years.
The insurance will be provided under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana’ (PMSBY) scheme for which the premium would be reimbursed by the state government.
A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here, an official said.
The sum insured will be ₹2 lakh each in case of accidental death and, in case of total and irrecoverable loss of both eyes or loss of use of both hands or feet, he said.
It will be ₹1 lakh in case of total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one eye or loss of use of one hand or foot due to accident.
The scheme will be renewable annually.
“The scheme will be offered through banks and administered through general insurance companies,” he said.
All residents of Haryana having Aadhaar-seeded saving bank accounts, in the age group of 18 to 70 years, are eligible to join the scheme, he said.
